The concept design shown in the Malanda Master Plan includes two lanes of traffic, angled parking both sides and a central median with trees.
Building to this concept design would be difficult and costly to achieve in practice, with a longer period of disruption to businesses. This would be due to the need to reconstruct kerbing on both sides and relocate essential services.
For this reason we've come up with some alternative options that incorporate the direction expressed in the Master Plan but in a more readily achievable and cost effective way.
Yes, please do!
The Tablelands region is interconnected and many residents live, work, play and do business in different towns. We value receiving a diversity of views and the perspectives of visitors to the town will be considered alongside locals.
So that we can understand these distinctions we have asked for your 'home' location as part of collecting your vote.
We are currently planning for a resurfacing of English Street to be completed between April and June 2021.
This will include a new asphalt layer and linemarking, according to the preferred design.
Other improvements such as gardens, signage and street furniture are not proposed at this point in time - but confirming this direction will allow this to occur in future years.
For this subject we have tried to limit the number of options for feedback so that we can have clarity on the preferred design.
You can vote for your preferred design on Shaping Our Tablelands or in person at a drop-in information session.
Other feedback and comments are welcome and will help inform our final design - but we will only collect 'votes' via these two channels.
We are seeking feedback to determine which of these two options is preferred by the community.
If there is a clear preference from the community we will then prepare detailed drawings for the preferred design, incorporating feedback where possible.
If there is not a clear preference from the community we will seek direction from the Council on how to proceed.
